HISTORY
The iconic "Amen break," a rhythmic pattern, is the foundation upon which the entire drum and bass genre was built. This short 6 second drum solo from "Amen Brother" by The Winstons, a 1969 soul track, became the foundation for countless DnB tracks. Many songs sample the exact drum solo from the original song and others recreate the rhythmic pattern independently. Regardless, the essence of any Drum and Bass tune is deeply rooted in the “Amen Break.”
Listen to the original "Amen Brother” at 1:25 to hear the infamous drum solo.
